In his response to my letter on Obama”s “kinetic military action” in Libya Mr. Feeney showed the difference between a prosecutor and an ordinary trial lawyer. A prosecutor must string together a case built on facts; the defense need only spread confusion, as did Mr. Feeney.

To begin, I thank Mr. Feeney for my promotion but “the purveyor of Republican opinion in Lake County” is Chairman Mark Cabaniss, not I. My only titles are “conservative,” “nobody emeritus” and the one by which I am introduced when I speak before groups around the state, “unreconstructed redneck.”

Furthermore, I didn”t call the President a fraud. He has explained all his broken promises, from failing to close Gitmo to providing openness in government: They”re all Bush”s fault. Nor did I say he was a traitor. He has good reasons for apologizing for America around the world while wrecking our economy and driving up the price of everything with his energy policies. That”s all Bush”s fault, too.

The President has explained that speculators are driving up the cost of gas. He is correct.

Speculators are speculating that with Obama”s policies they will soon get $6 for a gallon of gas. Incidentally Bush has been mixed up in big oil.

Despite Mr. Feeney”s suggestion, I”m not a birther and I have no ilk. I didn”t claim Obama was born outside the country. I can”t know where he was born because he spent millions to keep us from seeing his real birth certificate and college records. Hawaii refuses to show the authentic certificate because we citizens “have no standing.” It”s none of our business. Perhaps George Bush is hiding the real birth certificate.

Finally, regardless of Mr. Feeney”s implication, it”s not necessary to change the Constitution to straighten me out. Just stick to facts. The prosecution rests. The defense may take the stand.
