WINDSOR — Vinnie Magliulo and Evan Knight led the way on Wednesday as the St. Vincent Mustangs breezed to a 311-357 victory over runner-up St. Helena during a Coastal Mountain Conference South golf match at the par-72 Windsor Golf Club.
Magliulo fired a 3-under-par 69 and Knight carded an even-par 72 as the Mustangs improved to 20-0 in the South standings.
St. Helena”s second-place finish was its highest of the season. The Saints were led by Nick Cazet”s 79. Kelseyville finished third with 374, led by Corey Huber”s 82, and Middletown was just one shot back in fourth place at 375, led by Blaine Ruggio”s 82 that featured two birdies.
Though a perfect day for golf, a crowded course made for a long round, according to Kelseyville coach John Berry.
“It was a slow round,” Berry said. “It took five hours to complete.”
Greens that held most shots made for a low-scoring round, according to Berry.
The next CMC South match is Monday at San-ta Rosa Country Club. The conference finals are Tuesday at Oakmont West in Santa Rosa.
