KELSEYVILLE — Dustin Thaxton and Devon Call smacked three-run home runs to different parts of Lloyd Larson Field on Friday afternoon and the Kelseyville Knights blanked the Willits Wolverines 14-0 in North Central League I North varsity baseball action.
The game was called after 4? innings because of the 10-run rule.
Thaxton”s three-run shot to left field, a blast into the wind, helped Kelseyville (4-0 North, 11-5 overall) build a 4-0 first-inning lead. Call”s three-run poke down the right-field line highlighted an eight-run Kelseyville fourth inning.
“It was a very deep shot down the line,” Kelseyville coach Lou Poloni said of Call”s home run.
Kelseyville banged out 15 hits, including a 4-for-4 day by Max Huff, who doubled and tripled and knocked in three runs. Call, who drove in five runs, added three hits as did Mike Davis, who went 3-for-4 with a double.
“We swang the bat really well today, obviously, with 15 hits in four innings,” Poloni said. “I”m happy with how we came out and took care of things.”
While Kelseyville sits atop the North standings, Willits is in the cellar at 0-5.
Winning pitcher Blake Sedrick didn”t need much help during an ultra-effective four innings on the mound. He threw just 38 pitches, allowed Willits” only hit ? a second-inning single ? struck out five and walked none. Nic Vargas finished up.
Kelseyville plays a non-league game today at 1 p.m. against El Molino in Forestville.
