Fair and balanced?
In response to a letter published in the Lake County Record-Bee from Charles Nicholl: My oh my, Charles, does the phrase “fair and balanced and unafraid” ring a bell or two?
Item No. 1: Global climate, in the 1970s, as I recall, it was global cooling. Now it”s global warming.
Since I am not an experienced climatologist I can not say one way another, but I do appreciate hearing both sides; “fair and balanced” is just that.
Item No. 2: Birthers O”Reilly, Hannity, Van Sustern, Beck, Cavuto and Huckabee have all stated unequivocally that President Obama was born in Hawaii. Please do not imply those who watch FOX might not be aware of Hawaii Statehood.
Is fair and balanced registered with you yet?
Item No. 3: The economy is slowly growing, yes, however, I have listened to many business people and other learned economists indicate it would have grown much quicker with a very different approach.
Item No. 4: TARP and other stimulus programs: I vehemently opposed them as the wrong approach. However, after the first (in my opinion) bailout did not do much (lots of waste) as the old adage goes “when you are in a hole, stop digging.”
As Einstein said referring to mistakes (paraphrasing) it is doing the same thing over and over again and getting the same result.
Did FOX News give several viewpoints on the subject? Oh, I forgot you don”t watch FOX bias.
Many FOX programs interview opposing opinions and they are some lively discussions and I judge for myself the good and bad points of both sides voicing their opinions.
In many complicated issues confronting our nation and the world today, I like to hear different approaches to the complex issues facing and impacting our lives every day.
As far as watching other programs all I usually hear is everyone saying basically the same thing.
When Chris Matthews said that when he heard or talked to Obama chills went up and down his leg, I do not really think I am getting a fair-and-balanced analysis.
As Wrigley, of chewing gum fame, is supposed to have said, “If two people always agree, one of them is unnecessary.”
If you watch FOX News and hear something you believe is false call that person or e-mail them your objection.
Now how is that for fair and balanced?
