SANTA ROSA — St. Vincent wrapped up a 30-0 Coastal Mountain Conference South season on Tuesday at Oakmont West in Santa Rosa.
The Mustangs of Petaluma fired a team total of 316 to beat out St. Helena (357), Middletown (376) and Kelseyville (383). Rincon Valley Christian also participated but was incomplete (fewer than four golfers).
Vinnie Magliulo”s 73 paced the CMC South champs. The senior was later named the MVP on the All-Conference team. Low round of the day went to Kasey Cazet of Rincon Valley Christian with a 1-under-par 71.
Blaine Ruggio”s 80, including a birdie, led Middletown, which came in second in the South standings at 21-9. Kelseyville and St. Helena tied for third at 16-14. Corey Huber”s 83 led Kelseyville and teammate Wyatt Ferrell had 86. Middletown”s Daniel Eagle carded a 89.
St. Vincent automatically advances to the North Coast Section Division II Championships on Monday at Rooster Run in Petaluma. Middletown and Kelseyville have applied for at-large berths and will learn later this week whether they”ve made it.
Because Cazet, Ruggio and Huber fired the low three rounds (outside of champion St. Vincent) on Tuesday, they automatically qualify for the NCS Championships as individual entrants.
