CALISTOGA — Middletown High School”s Miriam Lane broke her own school records in the 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs Monday as the Mustangs beat Fort Bragg and Sonoma Academy in a Coastal Mountain Conference track meet at Calistoga.

Lane won the 3,200 in 13 minutes, 4 seconds and finished second to Sonoma Academy”s Katie Lee in the 1,600. Lee won in 5:37 and Lane finished in 5:53.

As a team, the Mustangs closed out an undefeated regular season by beating Fort Bragg 99-28 and Sonoma Academy 85-40.

“It was good for the girls to see some more quality competition,” Middletown coach Louise Owens said. “They (Fort Bragg and Sonoma Academy) didn”t have a lot of athletes, but they had some good ones.”

Middletown”s Brittany Cash won the 100 (13.5) and 200 (30.2). She also anchored the winning 4×100 relay team, which finished in 55.2 seconds. Amber Ramponi, Kelly Wilkinson and Aly Mino ran the first three leagues.

Wilkinson picked up an individual first in the long jump, where she cleared 14 feet, 8 inches.

Other Middletown winners were Angela Gattoni in the 800 (2:47), Emily Reed in the 100 low hurdles (19.3) and Cheyenne Snow in the discus (89-0).

The Mustangs just missed in the 4×400 relay, finishing .32 seconds behind Sonoma Academy in a bang-bang finish. Sonoma Academy won in 4:39.59 to Middletown”s 4:39.91.

Varsity boys

Middletown lost to Fort Bragg 87-39 but beat Sonoma Academy in the varsity boys” division.

Middletown”s only two firsts came in the 100 and 200 as Matt Henion won both events. His times were 11.9 and 26.5 seconds, respectively.

Middletown competes in the Coastal Mountain Conference Championships Satur-day in St. Helena.
