CLEARLAKE — Clearlake Police arrested Jerry King, 18, of Clearlake Saturday in connection with a shooting that injured 32-year-old Marvin Turl, also of Clearlake. King and a 13-year-old boy were taken into custody following investigation of the incident.
According to Sgt. T. Hobbs, at approximately 10 p.m. Saturday, officers were dispatched to a residence on Walnut Avenue for a reported shooting. Medical personnel from Lake County Fire Protection District were also dispatched, with staging required prior to entry.
Hobbs said upon arrival officers found Turl outside the Walnut Avenue residence suffering from a single gunshot wound. He said medics responded to the scene and began treating Turl, who Hobbs said sustained life-threatening injuries. A short time later, Turl was flown via air ambulance to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.
According to Hobbs, during investigation of the incident it was discovered that King drove a vehicle to Turl”s residence to confront Turl and his wife regarding an incident that occurred earlier that day. He said two male juveniles were in the vehicle with King.
“Once at the Turls” residence, King fired a .380 caliber handgun at Turl several times, striking him once,” Hobbs said. “King and the two juveniles then fled in the vehicle.”
Hobbs said at approximately 12:30 a.m. Sunday, officers, with the assistance of department detectives, located King at an apartment in Clearlake. King was arrested and booked into Lake County Jail for attempted murder and five other charges including possession of a dangerous weapon, carrying a loaded firearm with intent to commit a crime, carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle, discharging a firearm from a vehicle at a person, conspiracy to commit a crime and exhibiting a firearm.
The vehicle and the firearm used in the incident were located.
Hobbs said the 13-year-old, who was a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the shooting was arrested for making criminal threats and conspiracy to commit a felony. He was later booked into Lake County Juvenile Hall.
Hobbs said at the time the press release regarding this incident was issued, Turl was in stable condition.
