LAKEPORT ? The Lakeport Police Department (LPD) arrested a woman on a charge of felony kidnapping following an incident in Library Park early Saturday afternoon.
Officers arrived on scene and learned that 28-year-old Lakeport resident Jacqueline M. Shepherd had been hanging out near the playground area, acting suspiciously and watching the children play, according to LPD Sgt. Jason Ferguson.
Shepherd then began pushing a 6-year-old child on a swing before physically removing the child from the playground area, Ferguson said.
The child”s cousin confronted Shepherd, who proceeded to release the child and walk away from the area, Ferguson said. Officers located Shepherd inside Bigg”s 155 Diner and placed her under arrest, according to Ferguson.
Shepherd was booked into the Lake County Jail on a charge of felony kidnapping. Bail was set at $50,000, Ferguson said.
