CLEARLAKE — Clearlake Police Department is seeking information that may lead to the arrest of an unidentified man who allegedly attempted to sexually assault a Clearlake woman on Monday.

The man is described as a male with dark-colored skin with a thin build.

The suspect was last seen wearing a black, short-sleeved sweatshirt, blue jeans and black ski mask covering his face. The suspect”s age and other physical descriptors are unknown.

According to Sgt. R. Joseph, at approximately 8:15 p.m. Monday Officer A. Jones took a report of a sexual assault from a 21-year-old Clearlake woman. The woman reported, just a short time earlier, she was walking alone on Valley Avenue near the intersection with Arnold Avenue. The woman said while walking she was pushed from behind into the brush along side the road. The woman reported that she fell on her back and a male suspect crouched over her.

“The suspect did not say anything and attempted to unzip the woman”s pants,” Joseph said. “The woman was able to fight off the attacker and ran home where police were called.”

Anyone with information on this case, or any other Clearlake Police Department investigation, is urged to contact the police department at 994-8251. Joseph said callers may remain anonymous.
