CLEARLAKE — Emergency personnel responded to the 14100 block of Lakeshore Drive at approximately 9:44 a.m. Thursday following a report of a vehicle into an apartment building.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
According to Clearlake Police Officer A. Winslow, Donald Pitts, 50, of Clearlake, was traveling westbound on Lakeshore Drive in a 1995 Jeep Cherokee.
Pitts failed to follow the roadway around a slight right turn just east of Baylis Street and allowed his vehicle to exit the east side of the roadway where he ran into an unoccupied apartment at Lakefront Apartment complex.
Winslow said driver error contributed to the crash. Alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to factors, he said.
Damage was sustained to the apartment building, a city sign and the vehicle.
Lake County Fire Protection District responded to the scene as well.
Pitts was the solo occupant in his vehicle.
