LOWER LAKE — One day after pitching a perfect game in a 24-0 win over the Upper Lake Cougars, Clear Lake”s Emily Wingler allowed just one hit and one walk in a 16-0 North Central League I interlock softball victory over the Lower Lake Trojans Thursday at Lower Lake.
Wingler also went 3-for-3 with five RBIs as the Cardinals improved to 18-2. They close out the regular season Monday in Santa Rosa against Montgomery, a team they lost to 6-1 in the Ukiah Tournament last month.
“She”s picked it up a notch,” Pickle said of Wingler, who struck out eight.
Kelcie Reynolds collected four of the Cardinals” 12 hits and also drove in a run. Savannah Dekeyser didn”t have a hit but did drive in four runs.
Wingler gave up her only hit in the bottom of the first inning when Nicole Spooner singled with one out.
“Clear Lake is just a quality team,” Lower Lake coach Tim Sherrell said.
Losing pitcher Kristen Garcia struck out seven and walked 12 in 5 1/3 innings. Lower Lake outfielder Katlyn Mintel made a fully extended diving catch in left field with the bases full of Cardinals to end the top of the fourth.

Fort Bragg 8, Kelseyville 4
At Fort Bragg, the Knights threw a scare Fort Bragg”s way with a four-run fourth inning, but the Timberwolves went on to win the NCL I North game and clinch the undisputed league championship.
Fort Bragg improved to 7-0 in the league standings while Kelseyville finishes up at 1-7.
“We played really well,” Kelseyville coach Taryn O”Donnell said. “We had few errors and were hitting the ball. It was a good game to end the season with. The girls” attitudes were great.”
Stacy Solgat went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for the Knights and Kenzie Gould went 2-for-4.
“It was a very good group to work with,” O”Donnell said in summing up her first season as head coach.
Baseball
Clear Lake 9, Lower Lake 2
At Lakeport, Joey Blair went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Matt Gatton helped out with a two-run single as the Clear Lake Cardinals knocked off the Lower Lake Trojans in NCL I interlock baseball action.
Blair also pitched the final inning in relief of winner Chad Elliston, who worked the first six.
The Cardinals (9-10) took a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the second on a two-run single by Blair and a two-run error by the Trojans (3-13). Lower Lake scored in the top of the third to make it 4-1, but Clear Lake came back with three runs in the bottom of the inning, the first two scoring on a Gatton single.
Oren Ruffcorn went 2-for-4 for the Trojans and Steven Edwards had a RBI triple during a two-run sixth.
Losing pitcher Kevin O”Quinn went the distance, striking out three and walking two.
JV baseball
Clear Lake 8, Lower Lake 4
At Clearlake, Clear Lake beat Lower Lake in NCL I interlock junior varsity baseball action.
Zeff Roofner went 2-for-3 with two RBIs for Lower Lake (8-10) and losing pitcher John Duncan went 2-for-3.
Clear Lake statistics were not reported. The Cardinals improved to 11-5.
