In these hard times I think a new program to offer help to the children of Lake County might be started.
Our government funded programs such as “No Child Left Behind,” try to insure that children get a good education and it seems that a locally supported program by the citizens of Lake County could be started, one that allows folks to drop off funds at each school to pay for school cafeteria tickets to be given free to those children who for many reasons may have fallen through the cracks in getting such aid through government programs.
This program would be administrated and run by the teachers in each school who know best the true needs of their students.
No paperwork for the teachers, just the availability of the tickets to give to those they feel are in need of at least one good meal a day.
With 20 percent unemployment, some youth are truly in need of nourishment that is not available at home.
