CLEARLAKE OAKS — Eddie Black of North Highlands is the early leader in the 2011 Clearlake Oaks/Glenhaven Catfish Derby as of Friday evening.

The three-day event runs through noon Sunday and the winner in the adult division will receive $4,000.

Black weighed in a 17.10-pound catfish on day one of the competition. Two other catfish weighing more than 15 pounds also were weighed in. Eric Summers of Placerville is second at 15.81 pounds and Robert Gallagher of Middletown is third at 15.09 pounds.

Other leaders are Arlie Lane of Hood River, Oregon, at 14.66, Jere-miah Craft of Rocklin at 14.46, Joe Wynn of Clearlake Park at 14.44, Susan Luders of Santa Rosa at 14.12, Bruce Sumers of Placerville at 14.04, Colin Johnson of Santa Rosa at 13.75, and Stacy Wright of Nice at 13.74.

Other Lake County fishermen in the top 20 include Calvin Canida of Lower Lake, 14th at 11.74; and Angela Fye of Lower Lake, 15th at 11.19.

In the kids” division, Noah Lane of Hood River, Orgeon, is first at 14.32, Edward Bishop of Elverta is second at 12.58, Ashley Luders of Santa Rosa is third at 12.35, Domenic Lane of Hood River, Oregon, is fourth at 11.03, and Chris Lane of Hood River, Orgeon, is fifth at 10.78.

The winner in the kids” division receives a Wii Playstation.
