Thank you, Sheriff Rivero. Seldom have I seen a newly elected official make good so quickly on campaign promises. You are making bold changes that are long overdue, saving taxpayer money with good budgeting decisions, reducing Lake County”s liabilities and ruffling quite a few feathers in the process. Bravo! Some people seem to have gotten used to confusing corruption with business as usual. Thank you for shaking things up.
In my opinion, the current Robinson Rancheria chair is not legitimate, having lost the last election, yet refusing to honor those election results and instead holding onto power. When the same thing happened across the globe in the nation of Ivory Coast, world opinion rallied to the side of democracy and supported the properly elected new president, freezing the former president”s assets and pressuring him to surrender office (which he eventually did). Here in Lake County, many of us have taken the same approach toward Robinson Rancheria, refusing to spend money there until the incumbent steps down and honors the last election results.
The most recent controversy, in which Robinson Rancheria tried to pressure the Sheriff”s office, may not meet the legal definition of extortion, but from this citizen”s viewpoint, it does not pass the smell test.
Thank you, Sheriff Rivero for refusing to sell out the Sheriff”s office.
