KELSEYVILLE — A vehicle collision involving a school bus with children aboard ended with an arrest, charging the woman driving a compact car with driving under the influence of prescription medication.
The crash occurred on Thursday afternoon on Kelsey Creek Drive at approximately 2:40 p.m. Minor injuries were reported and treated on scene. No one was taken to the hospital.
According to a California Highway Patrol (CHP) collision report, the car and the bus were traveling in opposite directions along Kelsey Creek Drive.
The driver of the car, identified as Sandra Jean Burnett, 57, drifted into the path of the bus. The bus driver, identified as Shawn Dale Rogers, 39, slowed down and tried to take evasive action but was unable to avoid the collision.
The car struck the bus on the left front end. The car sustained major damage, while the bus sustained moderate damage. Four school-age children complained of pain. Burnett suffered minor injuries.
CHP reported Burnett was under the influence of prescription medication and was consequently arrested and charged with driving under the influence of prescribed medication and booked at the Lake County Hill Road Correctional Facility.
