A lot of consternation has been expressed lately regarding PG&E”s persistent installation of SmartMeters on customer”s homes.
In February of 2009 a recently dethroned Democrat-led congress passed the department incurring $787 billion American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
The act signed into law by the President authorized $4.4 billion of taxpayer”s money toward a program to promote investments in the so-called “smart grid.”
The funding is open to utilities (including public power, cooperatives and investor-owned utilities) and “other parties” involved in smart grid development. With a 50-percent cost-share requirement utilities like PG&E can raise rates so that ratepayers cover the remainder of the costs. Ratepayers who are also taxpayers will eventually shoulder all of the costs accompanied by higher rates.
Folks who are unhappy with their new (and expensive) SmartMeters have the Democrats and their leader, Barack Hussein Obama, to blame instead of PG&E.
How”s that for hope and change?
In 2012 Americans have the opportunity to slow and maybe even reverse the damage that this president has set into motion.
I, for one, would rather vote for Mickey Mouse backed by Acorn.
