LAKE COUNTY — A solo-vehicle crash Monday resulted in the death of Carlos Eddie Narvaes, 29, of Nice. His two children were airlifted to the hospital. California Highway Patrol Officer Brendan Bach said Narvaes was driving on Elk Mountain Road with his sons, ages 2 and 4, toward Upper Lake. Bach said at approximately 5:05 p.m., the 1991 Toyota Previa went off the road and overturned, ejecting Narvaes and the 4-year-old. The van landed on the man, crushing him to death. Bach said the 4-year-old sustained a broken ankle and both children sustained lacerations. One child was airlifted to Children”s Hospital and Research Center in Oakland and the other to UC Davis Medical Center. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
