LAKE COUNTY — The county”s jobless rate dropped 1.3 percent during April and now sits at 18.2 percent, according to preliminary data released by the state”s Employment Development Department (EDD).
Lake County”s 18.2-percent rate was a 0.2-percent decrease compared to the April 2010 unemployment rate.
Overall, Lake County employment increased by 130 jobs, helped by additions to the leisure and hospitality, manufacturing and government industries.
Fields reporting job-losses during April were professional and business services, farming and financial activities.
The state and national unemployment rates also decreased slightly during April. California”s rate is 11.7 percent, and national rate is 8.7 percent.
The rates for neighboring counties include Colusa at 21.1 percent, Mendocino at 11.6 percent, Napa at 9.6 percent and Sonoma at 9.8 percent. Marin County”s 7.6-percent rate is best in the state while Imperial County”s 27.9-percent rate is worst. Lake County ranks 52nd out of California”s 58 counties.
