Matter of oversight?
What would one say about a fire department that investigated a fire that never happened? What would one say about a police department that investigated a crime that never occurred? What can one say about a District Attorney”s office that investigated a violation of civil rights that never took place?
The only possible explanation is that the investigation is politically motivated. Of course, District Attorney Anderson pleads that he is also investigating this non-occurrence because of “officer safety.”
Naturally, there is the question: When was the DA”s office given operational oversight of the Sheriff”s Department?
Sheriff Rivero might want to reconsider having the DA”s Office defend him in the upcoming suit filed by the correctional officers. The DA”s Office seems too politicized. Rivero”s case may not get the advocacy it deserves.
