CLEARLAKE — Clearlake Police Department (CPD) is currently seeking information that may assist in an ongoing investigation pertaining to an alleged shooting involving suspect and victim vehicles. The alleged shooting occurred at approximately 8:30 p.m. Tuesday on Dam Road near the intersection with Lake Street.

According to Sgt. R. Joseph, dispatch received a call of several shot seen being fired from a moving vehicle. The caller stated the vehicle was a small, 90s, maroon, two-door coupe. The caller said the vehicle was not a hatchback and that it had square-shaped, rear taillights. The suspect vehicle was last seen traveling south on Lake Street toward Lower Lake from Dam Road.

Joseph said a short time following the report, a person, who wishes to remain anonymous, told police that a vehicle was shot at near the intersection of Dam Road and Lake Street only a short time earlier. Joseph said the person told police where the vehicle that was shot at could be located.

Joseph said the vehicle was located parked in the lot at an apartment complex in the city. He said the vehicle had two, undisclosed caliber bullet holes in the passenger side. “Officers learned that the two occupants, an adult female driver and a 17-year-old passenger (both of Clearlake) had been shot at while driving on Dam Road from another vehicle, believed to be the same vehicle as described,” Joseph said. “Neither of the victim vehicle”s two occupants were injured in the shooting.”

Joseph said both occupants were uncooperative with police but provided some information leading officers to believe that the shooting was possibly gang-related and targeted toward the occupants of this particular vehicle. “Though the victims in this particular incident are unwilling to cooperate with the investigation, the Clearlake Police Department is committed to finding those responsible for this violent assault,” he said.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation, or any other crime, is urged to contact the CPD at 994-8251. Callers may remain anonymous.
