CLEARLAKE — A Clearlake Police Department (CPD) investigation into an alleged sexual assault against a juvenile resulted in the arrest of Richard Headrick, 54, of Clearlake, who, according to CPD, confessed to the crime(s). Headrick was taken into custody on Saturday and is currently being held at the Lake County Jail with bail set at $35,000.
According to Sgt. T. Celli, the alleged victim of the assault and the juvenile”s mother came to the CPD and reported the crime. He said it was reported that the alleged sexual assault began when the girl was 5 years old and continued until she was 10 years old. Celli said that detectives discovered that the molestation possibly included oral copulation and touching of the girl”s private parts.
“During the investigation, a male suspect identified as Richard Headrick came into the police department to confess. Detective Sgt. Clements took Headrick”s confession, which led to Headrick”s arrest,” Celli said. Headrick allegedly admitted to committing the acts of molestation approximately 25 times from the time the victim was 7 years old until the victim was 11 years old, with the last incident occurring approximately two years ago.
