In response to reader comments on “SmartMeters won”t make you sick…honest!” The letter was written tongue-in-cheek but I realize it could have been interpreted as though I actually worked for Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E), in which case it would have been foot in mouth. Most of the language in my commentary was taken right off of PG&E”s corporate website so it couldn”t say I misquoted it. My intent was to point out just how absurd PG&E is in asking us to buy what it”s saying and selling. That”s why I began the commentary suggesting that one could stare at the sun without hurting their eyesight. I apologize to anyone who might have thought I support PG&E”s policies. I don”t. In the case of how it responds to public concerns, truth is stranger than fiction. Such is the case with its “Cooling Centers.” That”s a chilling thought.
Thank you for taking the time to reply to my commentary via the online venue that the Lake County Record-Bee is so gracious to provide. I am glad to see so many intelligent and thoughtful people speaking out. We need to have our voice heard in Sacramento.
To date, 32 cities and nine counties in California have gone on record and passed ordinances declaring their opposition to SmartMeters but PG&E has ignored all local moratoriums and gone ahead with its plans as if we had not spoken and the CPUC has done nothing to stop it. I encourage everyone reading this to contact the Governor”s office directly: Governor Jerry Brown, c/o State Capitol, Suite 1173, Sacramento, CA 95814. Phone: (916) 445-2841. Fax: (916) 558-3160.
