LAKEPORT — Kyle Tellstrom took the checkered flag in the Lake County Off Road Extreme Asphalt Outlaws main event Saturday night at the Lakeport Speedway, where he collected his second feature win of the 2011 season.

Also on Saturday, Ellis Thornton won the main event in the Clover Hydro Jammers division, Thomas Wright won the Coors Light modified feature, and Charlie Collins won the main event in the Taco Bell bomber class,

Race fans were also treated to the first in a series of demolition races this season.

Asphalt Outlaws

Tellstrom, the fast qualifier on the night, made the pass for the lead on lap 10 and never looked back in the Asphalt Outlaws main event. The race was slowed by only one caution period, that on lap 16 when contact between two cars sent Dale Preston into a spin, collecting three other cars in the process.

Clover Hydro Jammers

Thornton passed early leader Jackson Long on lap six and wasn”t challenged the remainder of the way in the Clover Hydro Jammers main event.

Eddie Klein came in second, Long was third, while Wayne Young came in fourth.

Modifieds

Wright, who started on the outside pole in the modified main event, battled Darrin Snider for the lead each of the first 10 laps. Wright pulled in to the lead on lap 11 and held off repeated challenges by Richie Potts to claim his first feature win of the season.

Sean Sweeney and Snider finished third and fourth, respectively.

Bombers

Working his way up from the back of the pack, Collins made a pass for the lead on lap 10 in the bomber feature race. Brian Denton attempted to pass Collins on lap 11 but his engine let go, leaving a swath of oil on the track extending into turn one. Don Cox”s car hit the oil and slammed hard into the wall, coming to rest in the middle of turn three and four. Andy Norton”s car also was claimed by the oil spill.

After an extensive cleanup, racing continued and Collins took the win in front of Rich Mills and Mike Swaney.

Demolition derby

Tim LaPoint and Jason Ingham provided plenty of thrills in the demolition, each taking aim at the other”s car repeatedly during the night. Ingham was named the winner as LaPoint finished second.

Racing action continues Saturday when the speedway hosts the Kulture Shock Car Show as well as the Coors Light modifieds, Clover Hydro Jammers, the Lake County Off road Extreme Asphalt Outlaws, the Taco Bell bombers and the Wrecking Yard Rumble.
