CLEARLAKE — A 16-year-old boy was arrested in Clearlake early Friday morning in alleged connection with the vandalism of 12 Clearlake locations, including commercial buildings, walls and street signs. Vandalism consisted of graffiti.
According to Clearlake Police Department (CPD), the boy was contacted at about 12:58 a.m. while walking on Phillips Avenue by Officer M. Ray and Sgt. M. Snyder. The boy was identified and determined to be in violation of the city”s municipal code for juvenile nighttime curfew.
While the boy was being detained it was allegedly discovered that he had a can of spray paint in his possession. He was then transported to the CPD for further questioning. According to the CPD, from the evidence collected and alleged admissions, it was discovered that the boy was responsible for vandalizing 12 locations within the City of Clearlake.
The boy was booked into Lake County Juvenile Hall for felony vandalism, juvenile in possession of spray paint and nighttime curfew violation.
The CPD would like to advise citizens that there are still several outstanding suspects being sought in relation to numerous acts of vandalism in the City of Clearlake. Any citizen with information regarding graffiti or gang-related activities is encouraged to contact the CPD at 994-8251.
