On Saturday night, less than two hours before Father”s Day, a 4-year-old boy lost his life. While our editorial staff fully supports Second Amendment rights, we are appalled at the illegal and irresponsible use of firearms that resulted in the life of a toddler being extinguished.
Recently the Boys and Girls Club of the Pomo Nation at Robinson Rancheria responded to the death of children who overdosed on prescription drugs. They went out into the communities in Lake County and collected prescription drugs to be destroyed. Tens of thousands of potentially dangerous pills were disposed of properly. Undoubtedly lives were saved by these proactive measures.
It is time to take firearms out of the hands of people who are not responsible and especially criminals. Responsible gun owners attend classes and have a deep respect for the damage that can occur as a result of putting these weapons into the wrong hands.
Good gun owners understand the fragility of life.
It is time to round up these guns. If you know something, anything, call the police. Apathy fuels these types of horrific events.
Just remember this, that 4-year-old boy …
