LAKEPORT — The Lakeport City Council on Tuesday night adopted a budget by resolution.
Council members Stacey Mattina, Suzanne Lyons and Roy Parmentier posed questions regarding Measure I funds, with Parmentier critical of the use of funds.
“They (the funds) can”t all be going to the streets — they”re not. Everyone knows it”s true,” Parmentier said. “I”m not going to sign a budget without a breakdown of Measure I. I want to know where Measure I money is going and how every dime is spent.”
Ultimately an agreement was made to add a page to the packet to breakdown the funds of Measure I and the budget was adopted.
A swearing-in ceremony for Brad Rasmussen, Lakeport Chief of Police, saw more than 100 in attendance and was followed by the introduction of Ed Moore, a new Lakeport Police Department volunteer.
Appreciation was given to Bill Knoll, who was presented with a proclamation for his “passionate volunteerism,” and he received a standing ovation for his longtime efforts to improve Lake County.
“I”m here to help,” Knoll said and smiled.
City of Lakeport summer interns Todd Heppen and Vanessa Buendia were introduced. Heppen, of Plainview, N.Y. and a graduate of SUNY, Oswego, will also intern for the county. Buendia is a business administration major.
Rasmussen discussed the multi-jurisdictional, multi-agency updated emergency operation plan (EOP) that involves a mock emergency scenario. All council members were in favor and the EOP was adopted.
To close out the meeting, a variance was considered to provide vendors with opportunities to do business at the city”s boat ramps. The council unanimously approved a motion directing staff to prepare a press release to see which vendors might be willing to prepare a business plan for such an operation, according to City Clerk Janel Chapman.
