CLEARLAKE OAKS — Northshore Fire Protection District responded to structure fire at about 1:46 p.m. Thursday on Old Long Valley Road east of Clearlake Oaks. The fire started in a structure on Old Pomo Ranch and spread to the surrounding wildland, according to NFPD Battalion Chief Pat Brown.

Brown said loss of the building estimates to about $700,000 plus $100,000 in contents lost.

NFPD responded with two battalion chiefs, three engines and a water tender; Lake County Fire Protection District responded with a water tender. Brown said NFPD handled the structure fire while CAL FIRE directed the wildland fire suppression. The wildland fire consumed about three acres, Brown said. CAL FIRE responded with three engines, a hand crew, a helicopter and two battalion chiefs.

The last unit cleared the scene at approximately 7:33 p.m.

Brown said it was determined that the fire ignited inside the residence accidentally.

NFPD responded to another structure fire at about 5:04 a.m. Friday. Brown said a singlewide mobile home was completely lost in the blaze, which occurred in the area of Sixth Avenue and Keys Boulevard in Clearlake Oaks. NFPD responded with three engines; CAL FIRE also responded with an engine.

Brown said upon arrival first responders went into rescue mode and had to force entry through gates and doors. He said Lake County Sheriff”s Office assisted with locating the resident of the home, who had already exited the structure. The last unit cleared the scene at 9:06 a.m. and the fire remains under investigation. Brown said the second fire remains under investigation.
