I feel that there should be rules but I think that the county is being too world-controlling. They want to control businesses, they want to control how a person grows and maintains their own medicine and they are way beyond the state controls.
I believe that it is totally unfair and it is all about control and telling you what to do. At least by the dispensaries being open marijuana can be purchased right there and grown right there and controlled.
An officer any day of the week, can walk in any dispensary and look around and judge for himself to see what is going on without a search warrant. Or we could go back to the olden days having it being sold in the schoolyards and on the street corners.
At least the way it is, there is some kind of control. You know exactly where it is and exactly what they are doing.
I believe that is a business as well as any other business in Lake County. People do not always have the same ideas. I think the county is trying to get way too much control over people, people”s lives and people”s business.
If there was a specific reason why they needed a specific law or rule because of a specific circumstance, I would understand it. But I have not been able to figure out any of this. Regarding the Lake County Chamber of Commerce, I have listened to some planning commission hearings before and the chamber of commerce was the ramrod against all dispensaries.
Dispensaries are a business with an investment by one or more individuals per their choice. I thought chamber of commerce was an organization to promote all business regardless and not pick out specific businesses that they do or do not like. No matter what kind of business you”re in, some people like it and some people do not like it.
Some people need their medicine and some just smoke because they just want to get high, but to me that is their personal choice.
Myself, if I was the chamber of commerce I would be getting all those business people to join, because I would not want to discriminate against certain businesses. There was an insurance man up there who was also against it; if I was him I would try to insure all the dispensaries in the county because he is a good insurance broker with good insurance companies (I have used him myself in the past).
I believe all these things were done in-house. Therefore, I believe it will pass the way the county wants it at this time and all you can do as an individual is support Ron Green with some type of donation, because the only other alternative would be to appeal with the Board of Supervisors and then you will find out which supervisor is for and which one is against. If you are not happy, you can speak at the polls.
