One of the super-sheriff”s letter writers is at it again about how great it would be for the City of Clearlake if only it was policed by the Sheriff”s Department.
Folks there could live in peace and harmony and crime would be zero-minus-zero.
To follow this reasoning, why not do as some counties have done?
This was explained by an officer of a small town police department, the New York Police Department, the county next to New York City, now has one countywide police department where before they had five departments. The county police department handles everything else.
The sheriff”s office handles civil cases and the jail. The Sheriff is the chief custodial office for the county. Just think the Lake County Police, one department for all.
If Clearlake was policed by the FBI, Texas Rangers and the Sheriff”s Office, the type of crime where a child was shot would still occur. But the Clearlake Police Department should be congratulated for its quick identification and arrest of suspects.
