LAKEPORT — The annual Independence Day celebration at Library Park in Lakeport had a successful conclusion Monday night, mostly because of a coordinated law enforcement presence during the event, according to Sgt. Jason Ferguson of the Lakeport Police Department (LPD).

Nine agencies assisted the LPD by providing presence in the park, Ferguson said.

Those agencies were the Lake County Probation Department, California Highway Patrol, Lake County District Attorney”s Office, Lake County Sheriff”s Office, California State Parks, California Department of Fish and Game, Clearlake Police Department, CAL FIRE and the Lakeport Fire Protection District.

Ferguson reported six people were arrested and transported to the Lake County Jail for public intoxication and fighting charges.

Six more people received citations for charges related to resisting or obstructing a peace officer, possession of less than one ounce of marijuana, minor in possession of alcohol and possession of cigarettes by a minor, Ferguson said, adding that 10 more citations were issued for parking violations.

Three children were reported missing and later returned to their parents, Ferguson said.
