It is difficult to understand why our citizenry isn”t boiling with anger and disgust with what is going on today in Washington D.C.

Have we all become zombies or in some mysterious way walking around while unconscious? It could be that we are just too stupid to understand our situation.

The Republican party has tried for 80 years to destroy the programs, laws and safeguards enacted almost entirely by Democrats in order to prevent another great depression.

The Republicans long for the return of the world of Charles Dickens and Ebenezer Scrooge when there were no child labor laws, no 40-hour weeks, no healthcare, no public schools. There were debtors” prisons, the rich and the serfs that served them.

Our conservative Supreme Court has once again decided that the free speech of the corporate rich doesn”t need a volume control. They are now free to spend unlimited sums of money on political campaigns without limit or transparency.

This is clearly a threat to our democracy. They can buy any politicians that aren”t already on the payroll and elections will mean nothing.

It has been repeated many times by the Republican leadership that they”re main interest in government is to make President Obama a failed president.

They have spent all of last year in obstruction after obstruction. They spent thousands of senate man-hours making sure that no progress was made toward solving our problems.

The Republicans flip-flopped in every position they took if by chance the president should agree with their original stand. They did everything they could to be disagreeable. They made no effort to contribute to the solution of any problem. They didn”t earn their salaries or even their healthcare.

They all should have been fired. In the last election the Republicans ran on jobs, job, jobs and the voters gave them the House of Representatives. They expressed their thanks by doing nothing that looked, smelled or sounded like a job.

Instead the small government party tried to interject the government into every aspect of our private lives. They passed bills to control healthcare, even directing exactly what treatment your doctor could supply. They want to decide who people can love.

They want to rewrite the history books to warp the truth closer to their liking. They want to impose their chosen religion into the government. They want to make the act of voting so difficult, complicated or threatening that many targeted people won”t vote. They want to take away the right to collectively bargain for your working conditions. They want to fire local elected representatives and privatize the jobs to friendly contractors.

This is only the beginning. These are not the behaviors of people who love America. Wake up America, it smells like treason.
