I read a letter to the editor the other day. It was from a Democrat, listing all the evils and woes of the world and blaming it all on the Republican party.

Well, just wait a few days, and another negative little letter will be printed from a Republican, listing all the same evils and woes of the world and how it is all the fault of the Democrats … Really?

Let”s come together here, folks. There is a lot going on out there and rather than lob blame at one another, we each need to choose our cause, battle, whatever and get out there and do something.

Volunteer for Hospice or Meals-On-Wheels, donate money to your preferred political party or cause, attend a town council or Board of Supervisors meeting, sit on a board or run for an office.

You will meet others who may or may not share your views, but by working with them one-on-one, you can choose to work at spreading something positive.

In the letter I spoke of, I read the sadness, anger and frustration. We all feel that. And, we all have to choose ways work through it positively. That person chose to write a letter. It is a good place to start. Use that positive step to fuel the next step.

In the upcoming November election there are vacancies on many school boards, the college district, fire protection districts, community services districts, water and conservation districts.

Local charities, hospice, senior centers, scouts and the 4-H need volunteers.

Don”t have the time? Donate some money, even if it is only a dollar, you will feel the difference. You pick, you are in charge.

There are a myriad of opportunities to choose from to spend your time or donate your money. You can make a difference.
