LAKE COUNTY — On Monday union lawyers representing the Lake County Deputy Sheriffs” Association issued a press release distributed to the media.
On Tuesday media outlets published the allegations made by the union attorneys alleging violations of a sergeant”s procedural rights by Sheriff Frank Rivero.
Rivero issued a statement that said not he nor the county was served with this lawsuit to date.
“We honor and respect the procedural rights of any deputy under investigation. However, we are equally obligated to hold our law enforcement personnel strictly accountable for their actions.”
Rivero stated, “Internal Affairs investigations, personnel issues and disciplinary actions involving law enforcement personnel are held in strict confidence. Lake County Sheriff”s Office Professional Standards Unit will adjudicate this case in its proper venue.”
