LAKEPORT — The investigation of a reported burglary to the Terrace Middle School computer lab, reported on Friday at 8:35 p.m., culminated on Monday with the arrest of two juvenile suspects.
Janitorial staff, who were still on scene at the school, were alerted by the security alarm company to the burglary in the computer lab room. Janitorial staff located an open door to the room and two boys ran from the area. Further investigation into the matter revealed two Apple Mac book laptop computers, valued at over $1,300, were stolen by the suspects.
Timely and persistent follow-up investigations by Lakeport Police Department Officer Gary Basor resulted in the subsequent identification of possible suspects.
Follow-up contact with those potential suspects led to the Monday arrest of both boys and the recovery of both stolen laptop computers.
Both suspects provided statements implicating themselves in the crime and were released to parents on citations.
The criminal complaint is being forwarded to the Lake County Probation Department for the seeking of prosecution of both suspects.
