NICE — The Northshore Fire Protection District (NFPD) responded to a reported grass fire Tuesday evening at the corner of Highway 20 and Lakeview Drive in Nice.
NFPD arrived to the site just after 7 p.m. with four engines and a water tender, according to deputy chief Pat Brown.
Crews contained the fire within approximately 90 minutes, though it spread about three-quarters of an acre and threatened three houses, one of which received about $20,000 worth of damage, Brown said. There was also a report of a possible burn victim but one was not located, he said.
CAL FIRE assisted at the scene with equipment and crews, and a mutual aid request was sent to the Lakeport Fire Protection District, which staged at Highway 29 and the Nice-Lucerne Cutoff, Brown said.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but it is believed to have started in the grassland.
