LAKE COUNTY — A big rig rollover shut down a portion of Highway 20 for more than an hour on Monday. Minor injuries were sustained by the driver of the utility truck, which was towing a 30-foot trailer.

According to California Highway Patrol (CHP) Clear Lake area, John Harris, 42, of Elk Grove was traveling westbound on Highway 20 at approximately 50 mph when he attempted to negotiate a right curve. CHP said because of the speed of the vehicle Harris was unable to negotiate the curve and caused the truck and trailer to roll onto its left-side blocking both lanes of traffic.

CHP said Harris was able to exit the vehicle and was transported to St. Helena Hospital Clearlake with minor injuries. A portion of Highway 20 was closed for more than an hour and one-way traffic control was in effort for several hours.

CHP said CAL FIRE crews that were first on the scene were able to prevent diesel fuel from entering into a nearby creek. The incident remains under the investigation of Officer B. Engle.
