LAKE COUNTY — California Highway Patrol (CHP) Clear Lake area continues an investigation into a fatal traffic collision that occurred Saturday on Highway 29 just north of the Napa County line. Albert Koran, Jr., 60, of Santa Rosa sustained major injuries in the head-on collision and was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the CHP, at approximately 12:03 a.m. Keith Cronin, 70, of Middletown was traveling northbound on Highway 29 in a 2006 Chevrolet pickup. For unknown reasons, Cronin allowed his vehicle to drift across the double-yellow lines, CHP said. Cronin”s vehicle continued in the southbound lane where it struck the 2005 Toyota Koran was driving head-on.

Koran was pronounced dead the scene and Cronin, who sustained major injuries, was transported to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital where he was treated for a collapsed lung and broken pelvis, CHP said.

Passengers in both vehicles sustained minor injuries and were treated at local hospitals and released.

The collision remains under the investigation of Officer Josh Dye.
