KELSEYVILLE — The Konocti Junior Open, an officially sanctioned United States Tennis Association tournament, was held Monday at the Gard Street School tennis courts in Kelseyville.

Players from all over California converged in the Boys 16 and 18 divisions to play.

In the Boys 16 singles final, Ryo Mayes, of Vacaville, played Jakob Keppelmann, of Reno, Nev. Keppelmann won the final. In third place was Dylan Tasker, of Santa Rosa, who beat Daniel Lucas, of Kelseyville, 6-0, 6-0.

In Boys 18 division singles, Peter Jensen, of Yuba City, had a marathon match with Noah Lee, of Forestville, which Lee won. In third place was Moses Kuzu, of Kelseyville, who beat Marc Cantu Marston, of Ukiah, who had to withdraw because of cramping.

In Boys 18 doubles, Kuzu and Ryan Schmidt, both from Kelseyville, teamed up against Jensen and Michael Munguia, of Yuba City. The team from Yuba City ended up victorious.

There also was a mini tennis tournament for local juniors from the tennis league with first through fourth places awarded to participants.

The referees for the tournament were Russ and Carol Kim, from Fairfield.
