LAKE COUNTY — On Tuesday at approximately 6:20 p.m. Sacha Cooper 30, of Lakeport, was driving her 2004 Chevrolet Impala northbound on Highway 29 north of Highway 281 (Soda Bay Road).
Cooper allowed her vehicle to drift across the center line and strike the left rear of a 2004 Saturn that was southbound on Highway 29, driven by Laura Ewing, 31, also of Lakeport.
The collision forced Ewing to exit the west roadway into a ditch. Ewing sustained minor injuries in the collision but was not transported to the hospital.
Cooper also exited the west roadway edge onto a dirt shoulder. California Highway Patrol (CHP) Officer Dan Frederick and Officer Efrain Cortez responded to the scene.
Frederick contacted Cooper, who was outside her vehicle with her 1-month-old daughter in her arms.
Cooper was subsequently arrested for felony driving under the influence, driving with an expired driver”s license and felony child endangerment. Her infant was not injured and was in a properly fitted, properly installed car seat. The infant was released to her father.
