LAKEPORT — The cast and crew of New Vintage Productions have been hard at work to bring William Shakespeare”s “Romeo and Juliet” to the Soper-Reese Community Theatre.
According to artistic director John Tomlinson, this production brings the colorful atmosphere of renaissance Verona, Italy in summer, to Lakeport. The ancient feud between the Montague and Capulet families reveals moments of comedy and tragedy, from the opening scene in a bustling marketplace to the final scene at the Capulet monument.
The actors are devoting their summer to practicing not only Shakespearean language and songs, but also sword fights and renaissance dancing.
The production times are 7 p.m. July 29 and 30, 2 p.m. July 31, 7 p.m. Aug. 5 and 6 and 2 p.m. Aug. 6 and 7. Tickets are available at the Soper Reese box office and online at www.soperreesetheatre.com.
