With the downsizing of NASA, the word is out that many of its employee”s will be gaining new employment over seas. In time, private companies will be created to do work in outer space and new jobs will be brought back, but, until then, something our government should act upon, would be to use the brain trust and employees of the present day NASA, to explore, study and research our oceans, that we know so little about.
Many of the skills that were used in space, could be used in developing and understanding the inner space of our oceans. Our nation has the buildings, much of the equipment that would be needed to bring rewards from such a program and in truth, might even be able to offer more employment then the space program did. The assets of the space program would also give us a real head start over other nations who will be doing the same thing in the future. Nature”s bounty held in our oceans is huge, some being the untapped fishing and mining opportunities, along with new discoveries of useful untapped resources that private businesses will be able to capitalize on.
Untapped oil fields may be discovered that with stringent rules and regulations could bring relief to this tight market supply. The benefits from such an investment by both government and private industry will be huge and sustain a strong employment record for many, far into the future. New and unknown raw materials would be developed and marketed that also would add to our Nations future economy.
Using NASA”S in place asset would give us a jumpstart over all other nations in the area of inner-space development.
