LAKEPORT — Helping one of its own is the theme of Saturday”s racing card at the Lakeport Speedway, where track officials plan to donate 10 percent of front gate receipts to help injured driver Kyle Tellstrom pay his medical bills.
Tellstrom, who competes in the Lake County Off Road Extreme Asphalt Outlaws division, was working underneath his car the night of July 23 when a rear jack gave way, causing the car to fall on him. He was airlifted from the speedway to the trauma center at Memorial Hospital in Santa Rosa and continues to recover from his injuries.
Down through the years Lakeport Speedway has raised money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the ALS Association and many other organizations. This time it is asking fans to show up and help one of its own drivers.
The Extreme Asphalt Outlaws will join the Coors Light modifieds, the Taco Bell bombers and the Rental Solution mini-stocks on Saturday”s racing card. Also racing are the Clover Hydro jammers.
Collins Racing, Smithhart Racing, Taylor Motor Sports and Furia Motorsport will also donate all their winnings to Tellstrom.
Proceeds from Lakeport Speedway Scratchers sales will also be donated by the speedway to Tellstrom.
Speedway gates open at 5:30 p.m. and racing starts at 6:30 p.m. For event details please call the speedway office at 279-9577, visit us on www.facebook.com or on our web site at www.lakeportspeeedway.com.
