KELSEYVILLE — Local and state fire agencies will be conducting a live fire training with California State Park on Aug. 18, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at Clear Lake State Park in Kelseyville.

The training will occur at the Clear Lake State Park main road entrance meadow at 5300 Soda Bay Road in Kelseyville. The fuel to be burned is grass and light brush.

The public may still see and/or smell smoke from Lakeport, Kelseyville, Soda Bay, Buckingham Park and other outlying areas on Clear Lake.

Clear Lake State Park conducts live fire training periodically to control invasive plant species and enhance coordination between local and state agencies.

During this training, firefighters will participate in mobile attack, progressive hoselays, handline construction, firing operations, fire shelter deployment, fire suppression tactics and strategies, as well as overall fire and public safety.
