UPDATED:

Bill Davidson, director of Animal Control, spoke with me Tuesday and said that dogs and cats that come into the shelter already spayed or neutered, are available for adoption for only $30 for seniors.

He broke down the present cost of $235 to adopt a pet at the present time: $30 for adoption, $25 for chip, $20 for rabies shot, $5 for license for seniors, $10 for everyone else, plus $155 for surgery.

Davidson also totally debunked the rumor of a vivisection clinic being set up. Instead he said that they are building a spay and neuter clinic on the premises.

If the Lake County Board of Supervisors puts its OK on it, he will be able to hire a veterinarian and thus lower the cost of the public adoption of rescued dogs and cats (hint, hint, any pressure might apply).

A friend of mine is starting a new website, Naturewellbeing.com. It is still without content, but it is being written as we read. He is setting up an account to subsidize adoptions. With enough help, we will lower the cost of adoption for everyone.
