CLEARLAKE — A member of a road crew team working on Highway 53 just south of Olympic Drive in Clearlake was injured Tuesday morning when another member of the crew ran him over.
The injured man was transported to St. Helena Hospital Clear Lake for treatment of injuries sustained in the incident.
According to Clearlake Police Sgt. R. Joseph, one member of the Sierra Equipment Rental crew backed over another pedestrian worker.
Brian Maninger, of Clearlake, said he was in the line of traffic going through the construction site when the incident occurred. “I was sitting right there,” he said. “One guy, he looked like a foreman, got out of the truck and handed the other guy a sign. It looked like he directed him where to stand and then he put the truck in reverse and backed right over him.”
The incident occurred at approximately 7:07 a.m. Tuesday in the southbound lane of Highway 53. Medical response was provided by Lake County Fire Protection District.
