LOCH LOMOND — The third annual “Light the Night” luau in benefit of the Leukemia Lymphoma Society is scheduled for 6 p.m. Aug. 27 at Loch Lomond Roadhouse. Tickets for the event are currently on sale, priced at $35 or two for $60.

“We have a really exciting event planned for this year”s fundraiser,” organizer Sarah Focose said. “We are bringing back two of last year”s performers: our very own local dancers from Kahaulani Studio and ?Obsidian Butterfly,” the fire-dancing group from the Sacramento area.”

Focose said she is very pleased to be adding another group of performers to the entertainment line-up as well. “We”ve also hired the professional dance group ?Tausala Polynesia, out of the Los Angeles area, to really get things moving,” she said. “They will be delivering a high-energy, authentic performance that will represent every Hawaiian island.”

Focose said that the authentic Hawaiian buffet was a big hit last year. It included a Kahlau pig, fresh salads and specialty sauces. Focose said a few favored dishes are expected to return this year including Shoyo chicken, coconut shrimp and coconut mango Mahi Mahi, crab cakes, Waikiki meatballs, Oriental Mandarin orange salad and Hawaiian rice pudding with papaya.

Focose said the event gained the support of Hey Taxi. “A reason some people didn”t attend last year was because they didn”t have sober driver home,” she said. “This year Hey Taxi is doing a special specifically for our event.”

Hey Taxi will offer transportation to and from the event for $25 each way. “So, if you get five people together, that”s $5 there and $5 home, which is responsible and much less expensive than a DUI. Plus, 10 percent of the cab fare will go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.”

For transportation arrangements, call Bryan Scarborough at 533-0249.

Focose said she is also seeking three or four more volunteers to assist with event, preferably high school students who need to fulfill community service obligations. She said the volunteers will be assisting with a variety of duties including ticket sales, setting up and breaking down equipment, seating event goers, clearing tables, decorating and providing customer service.

Donations for the event are accepted. Tickets are available for purchase at the Loch Lomond Roadhouse in Loch Lomond; and Silk”s Bar & Grill and Griffin”s Furniture in Clearlake. For more information call 350-5620.
