CLEARLAKE OAKS — A recent community meeting in Clearlake Oaks entertained discussions involving accomplishments and ideas for further progress in the town.

Lake County Deputy Redevelopment Director Eric Seely said that many accomplishments have been realized in Clearlake Oaks in a short period of time. He said while the county did not receive the grant it applied for, staff will bid on the new senior center project soon.

According to meeting minutes provided by Margaret Medieros, the center hall building is about 4,500 square feet but is only a shell and does not have utilities. The possibility of the Clearlake Oaks United Methodist Church selling the building to the county has been discussed. However, currently plans are to complete construction of the planned senior center next to the church. The plan is not expected to incur more expense.

An idea was presented suggesting that the Eastlake Grange move to the community center and use the existing Grange building as a museum.

Northshore Fire Protection District expressed support for replacing the senior center, which will include a sprinkler system and better access for emergencies.

According to the minutes, plans for the new senior center have already been approved and changes to the plans would result in further expense.
