UPPER LAKE –A fire broke out Thursday afternoon at 1:50 p.m. at a property located at 9160 Bridge Arbor North in Upper Lake, damaging structures and threatening nearby homes, according to Pat Brown, deputy chief for Northshore Fire Protection District (NFPD). Two mobile homes were destroyed in the fire along with two storage buildings and two cars. Two nearby homes and a nearby shop were threatened by the fire but were saved. The fire caused propane tanks and some ammunition on the property to explode. Brown said California Highway Patrol Officer G. Buchholz and two other people rescued a woman from one of the mobile homes while it was on fire. NFPD had five fire trucks and a battalion chief on the scene. CAL FIRE sent two fire trucks and a battalion chief to the fire and Lakeport Fire Protection District sent a water truck and a medic unit. The blaze caused two spot fires to break out nearby. One was in the levee behind the property and the other was in the rear of Pivniska Trucking. Brown said the blaze was contained at approximately 2:15 p.m. No one was injured in the fire. The woman who was pulled out of the burning mobile home was treated by medics on scene. The Red Cross has been notified to find temporary housing for the residents of the property as well as to provide oxygen for one of the residents. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
