What happened?

This is a letter of concern for all those folks who have ever had childhood memories of Clear Lake with their friends and families.

My husband and I recently spent some time visiting family members who live in Kelseyville right on the lake and we were appalled to see the color of the water has gone from blue to pea soup green.

This is so disgusting to see and the smell is even worse. I am shocked that the people of the towns surrounding this area are not up in arms about this.

What is being done to stop the spread of this algae? Have there been and is there still environmental studies being done to head off a total disaster of the entire area?

I”m quite sure property values have already dropped and I have already witnessed many hotels and restaurants closing down as a result of this mess. The whole lake area is in jeopardy of folding in the very near future if something is not done immediately. Clear Lake as we knew it is fading fast.

What are the local government people doing about this? Meetings on this problem should be ongoing so that the residents of the area can see what is going on and what they can do to help. Your local newspapers should run articles on what is being done weekly.

Also what happened with Konocti Harbor? Again, do the powers-that-be not care? The closing of Konocti Harbor should have never happened. Just think of all the revenue money that is now not coming in to the community.

Just think of all the jobs that have been lost as a result. Concerts were enjoyed by thousands, and now that is gone too.

I hope all of you that can help will help so Clear Lake can be the fun place it used to be for children and adults alike.
