UKIAH — Auto racing returns to the Ukiah Speedway on Saturday night with the Bill Binns Machine Shop modifieds and the Dennis Furia Heating & Air bandoleros joining the Speedy Signs street stocks, the Bud bombers and the 4-Bangers.

For the bandolero youngsters and the 4-Banger road-course racers, Saturday marks the final points race of the season. Champions will be determined after the drop of the final checkered flag.

The point battles are close in both of these entry-level divisions. In the bandoleros division, 10-year-old Kolby Berry of Redwood Valley is only 32 points ahead of Trystan Mucci, 10, from Nice. Tim Buzzard Jr. of Willits trails Mucci by only 24 points. It is possible to earn as many as 43 points in one night”s racing at Ukiah Speedway.

In the new 4-Banger class, the lead has gone back and forth all season between Jesse Hutchins and Jed Jones. Currently Hutchins is out in front by 23 points, and Trevor Abella sits in third place, only 20 points behind Jones. With two main events run each night, 4-Banger drivers are capable of earning 66 points per outing.

All other North State Racing Association classes end their point season Labor Day weekend, when racing takes place both Saturday and Sunday nights.
